Escapades of the #FitDoc…

Check out the deets from my latest competition Antelope Valley Natural Championships!

I came back to sunny California to compete in the 5th annual Antelope Valley Natural Championships presented by the incomparable fitness queen, Ruby Carter-Pikes. 👑😘😎

This was now my sixth show with the Musclemania organization. I stuck in with my training and did my competition in the Figure category. 💪👙

This time around, I really utilized strength and functional training. Recovery and flexibility came up through my work with BUTI yoga, heyyy, LOL!

My lovely daughter begged to join me on this trip. After much consideration, I gave in for her to come enjoy the chaos that is a Bodybuilding show.

We flew early out of Atlanta to dodge traffic early Thursday morning. We got our bags, and it probably took an hour and a half to get our rental car. (Shout out to Sakura rental for coming through in a clutch)! With all of this going on Lorrie Lean flight landed and we picked her up from the airport. We were famished for food and went to Fishbar on Manhattan Beach! The food was delicious and we walked the beautiful beach taking in amazing scenery of the Pacific ocean!

We left just in time to deal with the horrendous L.A. traffic.🚕🚜🚗😡🚓🚒🚐🚑😵

By the time we got settled in to my room, all we could do was crash in the bed and stretch out.

Friday was nothing but all necessary measures to prep for the show. I traveled with Mya and fellow competitor Marlene to Rancho Cucamonga to get our posing suits right and tight at Fresh Peaches Swimwear (http://fresh-peaches.com/ ).

🍑👙👙💓 This is the best craftmenship I have ever seen on so many beautiful suits!

After a long drive and rest the nails were done that evening.💅

Late night posing, but I do regret not getting to the gym one last time before the stage. Sometimes there’s just not enough time…

Saturday is the show day and we got out early for tan and makeup! I had to go to my Zen🕉 place to stay calm in the midst of choas. I was so impressed with Mya because she remains the most chill of everyone the entire day! We did an impromptu photo shoot and she was a natural in front of the camera!

Fast forward ⏩ to my moment on stage, the lights are up, they call my name, and I look and feel absolutely amazing! As they read my bio, I walk to my mark, and feel the pull off the stage… No literally! My heel got caught in the groove towards the front! All I could think of is “please don’t fall”! It felt like slow motion and all of the air had left my body. There’s nothing graceful in this moment, or so I thought. Praise God for experience and presence of mind, I pull off the stumble right into my next pose. The audience clapped for me and the show went on. Mya was backstage to kiss me right as I went back out for our call out and comparison.

I came out with a second place win and I am grateful all things considered. I talked to a few judges to get critiques on what I need to work on for my next go round on stage. I got some great feedback.

Sunday, we ate breakfast, visited friends, and spent the rest of our day at Six Flags 😎 for Easter! (Bugs Bunny was there, yayyy 💃🙌😍😘😊)!

Funny thing happened on the way to the airport for our return on Monday. The Waze app rerouted us through a Sherman Oaks movie set to beat traffic and make our flight!😲🙌

The escapades will continue for the Fitness Universe Weekend in June…
